Positive Trends for Women in Business

A recent study conducted by Womenable, a for-profit social enterprise that works to promote women's entrepreneurship worldwide, shows that the number of women-owned businesses continues to grow at rates exceeding that of all other businesses, with revenue and employment growth topping that of all other privately held firms over the past 15 years.

Despite these positive trends, women-owned businesses still face obstacles to success. The study shows that women-owned businesses employ only 6 percent of the nation's workforce and account for only 4 percent of the total private sector business revenues. These numbers show that while there has been astonishing growth, there is still plenty of room for improvement.
